Two charged with dealing heroin
A man and woman from Maryland are facing heroin distribution charges after their arrests Friday by investigators with the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office.
Maj. Scott Proctor of the Sheriff’s Office said the defendants, Deanthony Lamont Warrick, 27, and Dominik Nicole Hamlin, 21, were found with 3 ½ grams of suspected heroin in their car.
Proctor said the suspected heroin, equal to 0.12 ounces, was seized after a member of the Sheriff’s Office assigned to the Northwest Virginia Regional Drug Task Force conducted a controlled buy using a confidential informant to interact with the defendants.
“My understanding is that they came from Maryland to Woodstock for the purpose of this controlled purchase,” Proctor said.
The defendants have each been charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, distribution of heroin and conspiracy to distribute heroin.
Proctor said Warrick and Hamlin were arrested, taken into custody and transported to the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail after the confidential informant completed the controlled buy.
Their next court appearances are scheduled for 9 a.m. Feb. 19 in Shenandoah County General District Court.
