Woman dies in crash on Remount Road
Front Royal police are re-investigating the cause of a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred after midnight Monday morning in the 800 block of Remount Road.
Remount Road will be partially closed again Tuesday from around 10 a.m. to noon at a minimum, according to Front Royal police Sgt. Crystal Cline.
Brandi Nicole Cook, 23, of Warren County, was pronounced dead at the scene with severe head trauma, Cline said. Another occupant in the vehicle, Trevor Bryant Lee, 28, also of Warren County, was airlifted to Winchester Medical Center after sustaining extensive injuries. Cline said Lee was later transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital.
Cline said it was apparent that Lee was driving at the time of the accident, but she did not know whether the two were wearing seat belts. Police found the car, a gray Honda Civic, by a tree on the east side of the road.
“It struck the tree on the passenger side of the vehicle,” Cline said. “According to the picture, that is the part of the vehicle that was wrapped around that tree.”
In addition to Front Royal Police, Warren County Fire and Rescue, Warren County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police responded to the scene.
Part of Remount Road was closed from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday while the state police accident reconstruction team and Front Royal Police investigated the crash. Cline said the equipment used to recreate the scene malfunctioned, which required officers to reinvestigate today.
