Bridge Dismantling

Construction crews have started dismantling the original bridge over the south fork of the Shenandoah River in Front Royal on Monday afternoon. The 1941 bridge features 12 spans of steel beams and trusses and a concrete deck that surpassed its 50-year life span. Wagman Inc. is constructing the new bridge, and after the old bridge is dismantled crews will construct the two additional lanes to complete the $48.4 million project. Rich Cooley/Daily
