A motor vehicle collision on Saturday morning caused damage to a telephone pole near W.O. Riley Park in Woodstock.

Woodstock Police Chief Eric Reiley said the incident occurred at around 10:35 a.m. at the intersection of Park and Summit avenues. One vehicle at the intersection struck the driver’s side of another vehicle with the right of way.

“The driver of vehicle number two, as a result of that, lost control and the momentum of the vehicle carried it up the guide wire,” he said.

Reiley said that only the front end of the vehicle was stuck on the wire. He estimated that the incident caused $500 of damage to a telephone pole owned by Dominion and around $5,000 of damage to each vehicle. He said the damage to the telephone pole didn’t result in any power outages or transformer damage.

After the incident, Reiley said the vehicle pushed onto the guide wire was towed away. He said that the vehicles weren’t traveling faster than around 15 miles per hour at the time of the incident.
