Middletown man charged with indecent exposure

Police arrested a Middletown man on Friday and charged him with five counts of indecent exposure.

Dakota Michale Leary, 18, will face those charges at a hearing in Frederick County General District Court on April 4. He is being held at the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center in Winchester.

Middletown Chief of Police Philip Breeden said that an investigation started with a report from Feb. 8.

Police initially received a call that a white male was pulling down his pants and exposing his genitals to a complainant driving on U.S. 11. Breeden said the subject lived at the residence he was standing in front of when he allegedly exposed himself.

Breeden said similar calls came later in the month into early March. He said one complainant, a woman who regularly drives through the town, helped in the arrest by confronting Leary.

“She went back … and approached him, and they had a verbal altercation, and then while she was there she snapped a picture of him,” Breeden said. “It was because of her actions that led us to be able to resolve this a lot quicker than what we originally thought we were going to be able to.”
