Police search for armed robbery suspects

Stephens City police and area law enforcement are looking for suspects in connection with an armed robbery, breaking and entering and malicious wounding that occurred Tuesday night

According to Stephens City Police Sgt. Ronald Fox Jr., a resident of an apartment on the 700 block of Plymouth Street responded to a knock at their door at around 10 p.m. Fox said two men in black clothes and masks demanded money of the victim as they entered the residence and forced him into a bathroom.

There, he said the victim was pistol-whipped before the suspects fled. Fox said they took the victim’s wallet with less than $100 cash in it.

Fox said that police received a call immediately after the incident. The Stephens City Police Department has been working with state police and Frederick County and Winchester law enforcement to find two or three men in connection to the incident.

Fox said that police believe the victim was targeted.

“We have a couple of cameras in the area that we’re trying to get the footage enhanced,” he said.

Fox said that law enforcement is also on the lookout for a light colored Chevy Impala with a sunroof and after-market rims. Fox said the suspects are believed to be light-skinned black males or Hispanic males, and that one man who entered the residence had dreadlocks.

“We’re working possible leads at this time – we’ve gotten rid of one, and we’re working on a few more,” he said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department at 540-868-1012.
