Fire destroys Frederick County house
Fire destroyed a house late Monday at 5265 Cedar Creek Grade in Frederick County.
The Frederick County Fire and Rescue Department said in a written statement that firefighters were sent to the scene at 11:40 p.m. and found the house engulfed in flames.
The roof had collapsed into the structure and another, smaller fire broke out in an adjacent fencerow where flying embers and debris from the house fire had landed. Firefighters extinguished the fencerow fire shortly after it started.
The home was occupied by two people who were evacuated and have since moved in with family members. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the fire marshal’s office.
No firefighters were injured but one civilian was injured and taken to an area hospital.
Fire and rescue units at the scene included Stephens City; Middletown; Star Tannery; Round Hill Community; North Mountain; Clear Brook; Frederick County Fire and Rescue Battalion 10 Duty Officer and the chaplain corp. The fire departments from Winchester and Shenandoah County also responded to the scene
