Incumbent Minnick seeks Town Council re-election
Teresa Minnick is seeking re-election for one of three Town Council seats available in the town of Edinburg. The town votes on May 3.
Minnick, a member of Edinburg’s Town Council since 2010, has worked as a patient care coordinator at Shenandoah Community Health Clinic for the past six years. She has been a valley resident for more than 30 years and attended Eastern Mennonite University and American National University, both in Harrisonburg.
She says she is proud of the work Town Council has done.
“I’m always impressed with how hard the council works from the perspective of the average citizen,” Minnick said. “They work very hard to keep taxes down and to give the best service that can be done for the money.”
Minnick says that those on the council can’t afford to stand pat.
“There are always things to be done,” she said. “There are always new rigs coming down the pike; always new legislation that affects the town and it takes a while to get a clear understanding of everything that the town faces as it moves forward.”
According to Minnick, her desire to continue her service on Town Council comes from a desire to help.
“Basically, when I came on the Town Council, I was first appointed to fill a position that had been vacated and then I was elected for a term,” she said. “The reason I initially pursued it is not because I’m a politician or had a desire to be one. I care about the community and wanted to do what I could do to help with things.”
Minnick lives in Edinburg with her husband Dean. They have three grown children and two grandchildren.
