PET OF THE WEEK: Jessie, the gentle giant, is looking for a loving home
FRONT ROYAL – Jessie, a 4-year-old Great Dane at the Humane Society of Warren County, is looking for a new, loving home.
Teresa Denny, a kennel attendant at the animal shelter, said Jessie has been at the shelter since March 3 after being brought in by her previous owners for not getting along with their other dog.
She added that Jessie would do best in a home without other dogs, cats or children.
“She’s very loyal and protective of her owners,” she said.
She is also playful but she’s very loving and affectionate too. She is known to chase squirrels while outside.
“She just likes to stay close to people that she knows and loves…,” Denny said. “She’s just a sweetheart.”
Jessie also loves car rides, Denny added.
She’s a very gentle and calm animal.
“She’s a gentle giant,” said Denny.
Denny said she sees Jessie sitting on the couch with her new owner just watching TV because Jessie also thinks she’s a lap dog.
Jessie is small for a Great Dane and weighs about 120 pounds.
She is crate trained, but wouldn’t do well in a crate for long periods of time since she prefers to be around people. Jessie is also great on a leash and likes walks outside.
Jessie has a Continental Kennel Club certificate.
She is up-to-date on her vaccinations and spayed. Her adoption fee is $30.
