Man charged for child pornography, soliciting minor

Investigators from Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office have charged an active member of the Marine Corps with possession and production of child pornography.

Timothy H. Ducharme, 21, of Moriarty, New Mexico, was arrested on Thursday and has been charged with a consensual sex act with a child 15 years old or older, using telecommunications to solicit a minor, production of child pornography and possession of child pornography, according to Lt. Chris Baker of the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office.

Baker said the office received a call about an incident that occurred on April 18.

“We received complaints from a 15-year-old’s mother about her engaging in some inappropriate activities with an adult male,” he said.

Baker said investigators discovered Ducharme was exchanging inappropriate text messages with the juvenile. He said all of Ducharme’s charges are in connection to his interactions with one individual. He said both the girl and her mother are Shenandoah County residents.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service was also involved with the investigation. Baker said the Sheriff’s Office works with the organization whenever an active military member is involved with an incident. He said Ducharme was an active member of the Marine Corps that was stationed in Quantico, but did not provide information on his rank or status.

Baker said Ducharme is being held without bond at Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail. Ducharme is scheduled to appear in Shenandoah County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on May 12.
