Man charged with bestiality

Christopher Lee Ferguson

FRONT ROYAL – Authorities have accused a town resident with performing a sex act with a dog.

The defendant, Christopher Lee Ferguson, 31, of 1383 Old Winchester Pike, is being held without bail in the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail after being arrested and charged Thursday with bestiality.

Sgt. Crystal Cline of the Front Royal Police Department said Ferguson, who is on probation for four sex offenses committed in Shenandoah County, said the defendant was arrested after turning himself in at police headquarters late Thursday.

“We received information from the probation and parole office,” Cline said. “That’s what initiated the investigation into the event.”

A criminal complaint written by Detective Landin Waller states that Ferguson submitted to a sexual history lie detector test on April 26 as a condition of his probation requirements.

“It was prior to this examination, during the pre-screen interview portion, that Ferguson made a disclosure,” Waller wrote.

The complaint states that Ferguson “admitted that sometime in December 2015” he performed a sex act with a dog for about four minutes.

“Ferguson has also admitted this to his probation officer, his treatment provider and his current girlfriend,” Waller wrote.

The Virginia State Police sex offender registry lists Ferguson as a violent sex offender. He pleaded guilty to four felony sex offenses and was sentenced in Shenandoah County Circuit Court on Feb. 7, 2007. The offenses are listed as rape, object sexual penetration and two counts of forcible sodomy.

Ferguson’s next scheduled court appearance is 9 a.m. Tuesday in Warren County General District Court.
