Accidents kill two from Front Royal

Two Front Royal residents have died in the past four days as a result of separate accidents.

In a news release, Front Royal Police Chief Norman Shiflett stated that 68-year-old Front Royal resident Dennis Ralls died Monday as a result of injuries from a May 28 accident.

The release states that officers responded to an accident at Virginia Avenue and West 8th Street at around 9:57 a.m. May 28. Investigators determined that Emmanuel Georgewill, 51, of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling north on Virginia Avenue in a 2016 Dodge SUV and struck a 1997 Ford sedan traveling east.

Ralls, who was operating the sedan, was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported Winchester Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Georgewill was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured by the accident. Police charged Georgewill with reckless driving. The release states that airbags deployed in both vehicles and both were total losses.

Another Front Royal resident, Amee Lynn Torres, 34, died at the scene of a two-vehicle crash in Warren County on Saturday.

According to a statement from Corinne Geller, spokesperson for the Virginia State Police, Torres was driving a 2016 Dodge Journey when it collided with the back of a tractor trailer at about 7:47 a.m. Saturday.

She wrote that the tractor-trailer had stopped for a red light on U.S. Route 522 at the intersection of Route 1050. Torres was wearing her seatbelt at the time but died at the scene. The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.

Geller wrote that the cause of that crash is still under investigation.
