Front Royal police are investigating a shooting at a Pine Street residence that hospitalized one man Saturday night.

A Monday news release from the office of Chief Norman Shiflett states that officers were called to Warren Memorial Hospital at about 11:40 p.m. Saturday to respond to a man with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers identified the man at the hospital as Earl Christopher Magwood, 40, of Front Royal.

Front Royal police Sgt. Crystal Cline said that during their investigation, officers learned the shooting occurred at Magwood’s residence, 334 Pine St. She said the investigation has shown that the shooting occurred just before police responded to the call, but police had not received a call about gunshots in the area.

After police response and identification, Magwood was taken to Winchester Medical Center for treatment. Cline said he appeared to have been shot three times.

“He’s still in the hospital,” she said. “He’s in the ICU, but stable.”

Cline said the case is still under investigation and the police department is still processing evidence.
