Linden home destroyed by fire

Warren County Department of Fire and Rescue Services has declared a home on Grimes Golden Road a total loss after a fire Sunday morning.

Units responded to 54 Grimes Golden Road within the Apple Mountain Lake subdivision in Linden at around 12:25 p.m. Sunday, according to a Monday news release. Firefighters confirmed no one was home and entered through the front door.

After firefighters attacked the fire on the first floor and roof, they shifted to a defensive attack for safety reasons. No firefighters sustained injuries from the fire. Units had the blaze under control by about 1:10 p.m. and cleared the area by 4:05 p.m.

The Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the fire and has deemed it an accident, centered around a power cord of a chest freezer. The house was valued at $210,000 and the losses estimated at $180,000.

Occupants of the house were not home during the fire, but a family dog is still missing. The release states that Allstate Insurance is assisting the occupants.
