Man charged with third domestic assault, battery

Authorities charged a Maurertown man with two counts of assault and battery on a family member. As his third domestic offense, it was classified a felony.

Officers with the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call Friday when the victim reported being assaulted by Marcus Alan Kibler, 25, of 10277 Back Road Maurertown, said Wes Dellinger, a captain with the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office.

“The incident occurred inside a vehicle,” Dellinger said. “The victim then arrived home and called the police.”

The victim did not require medical attention, Dellinger added.

Friday’s incident is not Kibler’s first run in with police over domestic issues. In March, Kibler pled guilty to the assault and battery of a family member that occurred in December 2015. He was charged $1,000 in costs and sentenced to two years of parole, according to court documents.

“This is his third offense, making it a felony,” Dellinger said.

A hearing has been set for 9 a.m. Aug. 18 in Shenandoah County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
