New director of finance joins county schools
Barbara Stombock began her role as the new director of finance for Shenandoah County Public Schools on Monday.
Stombock said the school division has an “excellent reputation” and that she is excited about the opportunity to work on the administrative team.
“I look forward to working collaboratively to ensure that the division’s fiscal and business operations support student achievement in a positive and efficient manner,” she said. “It’s good to be back home working in the valley.”
She said a colleague emailed her about the job opening and encouraged her to apply for the position. She said she lives in Luray and the job would be closer to home.
She said her past work experience includes being a former business teacher in Page County for 12 years, from 1989 to 2001. She then moved to the central office and served as the director of finance for Page County Public Schools for 10 years, from 2001 to 2011. She has served as the director of finance in Spotsylvania County Public Schools for the past five years.
She added that “everyone has been very welcoming” in her first few days on the job.
