Man charged with domestic assault, strangulation
Authorities charged an Edinburg man with domestic assault and strangulation Friday following a neighbor’s 911 call.
Lt. Chris Baker, of the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office, said neighbors phoned in to report hearing a woman’s screams. Authorities arrived in the neighborhood and located Will Anthony Lear, 27, standing over a female family member.
“The two had been involved in a physical domestic altercation at their residence in Edinburg,” Baker said.
Baker said the woman escaped the house and made it out onto the street before authorities arrived.
Lear ran when authorities approached the scene, Baker said. Deputies caught up to him after a block and brought him into custody following the incident.
Lear is set to appear in court at 9 a.m. July 21 at the Shenandoah County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courthouse.
