Pedestrian killed when hit by train

BENTONVILLE – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train Wednesday morning in Warren County near the intersection of Stonewall Jackson Highway and Payne Lane.

State police Sgt. F.L. “Les” Taylor said the incident occurred at around 8:20 a.m.

“A Norfolk Southern freight train was traveling southbound on the tracks and came upon the area near the crossing.” Tyler said. “A subject was struck.”

Tyler said Khalif Rafhon Privott, 21, of Manassas, died at the scenes from injuries sustained when he was hit by the train.

Tyler said the incident is being investigated by trooper R.M. Weiss, who received assistance on the scene from the Medical Examiner’s Office, the Bureau of Criminal lnvestigation, Warren County Sheriff’s Department, Warren County Fire and Rescue and Norfolk Southern Police.

Calls made to Warren County Fire Chief Richard E. Mabie and Norfolk Southern have not yet been returned.
