Woman injured in fall from ride

A 47-year-old woman was injured Monday night when she fell about 40 feet from a ride at the Frederick County Fairgrounds.
The Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that the victim was injured after a seat detached from the frame of a ride called the Super Shot and fell to the ground.
The impact left the woman with several unspecified injuries. She was taken to Winchester Medical Center for treatment.
The Sheriff’s Office said the cause of the accident is unknown and being investigated by the Frederick County Building Inspections Department.
