Man faces three counts of assault
A Woodstock man was arrested Monday and charged with three counts of assault.
Maj. Scott Proctor, of the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office, said deputies were dispatched to 249 Lakeview Drive at around 6 a.m. for a reported assault. Deputies were told Sirreginald Benton threatened at least three individuals with a hammer, and Proctor said one sustained a minor injury that didn’t require immediate medical attention.
“It was a result of some type of argument that had escalated to that point involving all the parties,” he said.
Proctor said both Benton and one of the reported victims live at the residence, although Proctor said he was unaware of what relationship they have. He said all three victims were around 20 years old.
Benton was released from Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail on Tuesday on a $1,000 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in Shenandoah County General District Court on Sept. 23.
According to online court records, Benton was found guilty of a misdemeanor assault charge in March 2015 and is scheduled to appear in October for another misdemeanor assault charge.
