Woodstock continues capital improvement projects

WOODSTOCK – Interim Town Manager Angela Clem updated Town Council on capital improvement projects during a Tuesday night meeting.

Clem said that the Water Street water main upgrade has been completed and was tested on time. Work on the downtown parking lot and the water treatment plant upgrade projects continues.

On her first day as interim town manager on Aug. 1 she said she dealt with a water main break off of Senedo Road. After seven hours, the main was fixed.

Asphalt paving is also taking place throughout town. Locations scheduled for overlay and repairs this year include Lee Street, Ox Road, Motel Drive, Lora Drive and Water Street.

“Our 2016 asphalt paving season has begun,” she said.

The sewer force main testing has also been completed.

“This is taking the solids from the water treatment plant to the wastewater treatment plant,” she said.

Clem also said that the town has been awarded a grant to plant over 60 trees.

“I’m happy to report that once again we are the recipient of the Virginia Trees for Clean Water grant,” she said.
