Man charged in bottle attack
WOODSTOCK – An Ohio man has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding and several related offenses stemming from an incident Thursday evening that left another man bleeding from cuts to the head and face.
Authorities say Christopher Sean McCormick, 30, attacked a 67-year-old man after a brief exchange of words outside a house in the 1100 block of Copp Road in Strasburg.
Capt. Wesley Dellinger of the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to the scene at 6:22 p.m.
Dellinger said McCormick was arrested at the scene with no resistance.
“McCormick went to his knees, put his hands behind his back and was secured by the deputy,” Dellinger said.
The victim was taken to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital for treatment of his wounds.
“He was struck by a bottle to the head, which resulted in lacerations to the head and facial area,” Dellinger said.
Dellinger said McCormick also tried to strangle the victim and destroyed a cell phone belonging to the victim.
McCormick, who is charged with aggravated malicious wounding, strangulation and vandalism is being held without bond in the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail.
McCormick is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Shenandoah County General District Court.
