Threat to school prompts relocation
Students from Robert E. Aylor Middle School will be dismissed today from Sherando High School after being relocated as a result of a threat made to Aylor.
Frederick County Public Schools announced on its Facebook page this afternoon the plans for student dismissal. Students riding the bus will be dismissed at the normal time – 2:45 p.m. Parents were alerted that they could pick up Aylor students from Sherando by entering the main entrance beginning at 3:15 p.m. Parents will be asked to provide identification when picking up their child.
An earlier post on the school division’s Facebook page stated that Aylor students were being transferred to Sherando after Aylor received a threat. Law enforcement was providing assistance.
Officials at the time of the post advised parents to not call the school, individual students or try to go to facility to pick up students. Officials indicated that phone calls and more traffic would hinder the response to the situation. The school division would provide more information via the Rapid Communication System and Facebook.
