Woman faces bench trial on embezzlement charges
WOODSTOCK – A Mount Jackson woman is facing a bench trial in March following an accusation of embezzlement totaling out at $29,650.
Tina Christine Leith, 47, of Senedo Road in Mount Jackson, has been accused of writing herself checks from her employer, James David Cannon Jr, between April and July of 2015.
Cannon hired Leith to maintain his books while he was running a tractor-trailer operation.
According to Leith’s criminal complaint, Cannon told authorities that when he confronted Leith about the matter, she said she was planning to get money from a settlement and replenish the account before he noticed.
Leith’s attorney, Todd Gilbert, declined to comment on the matter.
Leith is set to appear in Shenandoah Circuit Court at 9 a.m. March 29 for a bench trial.
