WOODSTOCK – Town Council set two public hearings and heard updates on capital improvement projects on Tuesday.

The hearings to be held in October.

A joint public hearing between the Planning Commission and Town Council for a rezoning application will take place at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 4, and a public hearing for the issuance of a general obligation bond to fund the downtown parking lot project will take place at 7:25 p.m. Oct. 4.

During Town Manager Angela Clem’s report, she noted that  the applications for the deputy town manager position are due by Sept. 15, the asphalt paving season is complete and the waterline project tripled the fire flow in this area.

She added that auditors will be present the week of Sept. 19 to perform the audit for fiscal year 2016.

She also gave an update on three capital improvement projects.

The downtown parking lot project continues to run on schedule and the formal review of the water treatment plant upgrade is almost complete pending the Virginia Department of Health reviewing a resubmitted plan after engineers addressed comments from the Virginia Department of Health, she said.

She added that the South Main Street sidewalk improvements will begin at the end of the month in front of the Massanutten Military Academy.
