Council fills committee vacancies

STEPHENS CITY – Town Council made sure all standing committees had a full roster at a brief regular meeting on Tuesday.

Joe Grayson left his position on Town Council in August, having moved elsewhere in Frederick County. Members voted in September to fill his seat for a 90-day term until a new member of council is elected in November and appointed. Interim appointment of Mark Fleet to that seat was approved by a 3-2 vote, with council members Jason Nauman and Regina Swygert-Smith voting nay.

Fleet attended the town’s regular October meeting as a member of council. Mayor Mike Grim recommended Fleet be appointed to both the Public Works and Water and Sewer committees since Grayson served on those committees while on council. Grayson was also chair of the Public Works committee.

Council members Nauman and Ronald Bowers were absent from the meeting, as was Town Manager Mike Majher.
