Man pleads guilty to having sex with 13-year-old
WOODSTOCK — A Broadway man pleaded guilty in Shenandoah County Circuit Court on Wednesday to having carnal knowledge of a 13-year-old girl.
James Dillan Polk, 21, entered his guilty plea following an incident that occurred Aug. 11, 2015, in New Market.
According to a proffer of the evidence from Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Louis Campola, Polk and a 13-year-old girl engaged in consensual sex. Campola said there was no evidence to indicate any use of force.
Polk and his attorney, Charles Ramsey, agreed to the evidence without objection.
After Circuit Judge Dennis L. Hupp accepted Polk’s plea, Hupp scheduled a sentencing hearing for 9 a.m. Jan. 11
In a follow-up interview after the hearing, Polk said he has no recollection of the incident because he blacked out due to the prescribed medications he was taking at the time.
