Rape case hearing continued

A preliminary hearing for a rape case in Warren County was again continued on Wednesday until a December date.

Darrin William Murphy, 48, is charged with two counts of sexual battery, one count of forcible sodomy and one count of rape. Two women said Murphy offered them a place to stay earlier in the year and that he had been making unwanted sexual contact with them after they had moved in.

Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Bryan Layton said the hearing has been continued twice so far, but that he hasn’t finished processing information from the defendant’s computer.

Murphy was granted bond on Aug. 30 following an appeal to Warren County Circuit Court.

He was scheduled to appear for the preliminary hearing on Dec. 20 and remains out on bond, provided he has no contact with the victims.
