County to host transportation forum
WINCHESTER – Frederick County residents can talk with state and local officials about transportation needs at a public forum later this month.
The Transportation Committee plans to hold “Driving Frederick County Forward” at 6 p.m. Nov. 30 in the government center, 107 N. Kent St., Winchester. The panel will hold the forum in conjunction with the Board of Supervisors and the Department of Planning and Development, the Sheriff’s Office, the Virginia Department of Transportation as well as state elected and appointed officials.
The forum gives the public an opportunity to interact directly with state and local leaders, to provide information on current and future transportation projects and to solicit feedback on related matters, according to information provided by the county.
Topics likely would include public safety, transportation funding and allocation of limited county resources, Interstate 81, local projects and programs, freight and truck traffic, calming measures for residential neighborhoods, secondary and rural roads and any other subjects presented by those in attendance.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for the public to interact with officials on hand. A question-and-answer period begins at 7:15 p.m. The forum concludes no later than 8:30.
Contact the Department of Planning and Development at 665-5651 for more information or to make special accommodations or visit the county’s webpage at www.fcva.us/transportation.
