County adds features to GIS page
Warren County recently launched a new collection of interactive maps on the government website.
The Planning Department unveiled applications last week that allow the public to use the county’s geographic information system maps to search for recreational amenities such as parks, trails and boat landings. The maps also allow the public to find the school a child would attend by searching by street or address.
The applications produced by the county GIS also include interactive tours that feature projects in progress, the capital improvement plan and the Royal Shenandoah Greenway.
Visit http://warrencountyva.maps.arcgis.com to use the GIS applications. The county webpage also will feature a link to the applications.
The county launched its GIS webpage in 2005 and upgraded the service in 2014 and in 2016. The Timmons Group, an engineering and consulting firm based in Richmond, developed and hosts the website.
An earlier version of this story should have said the applications unveiled last week, produced by the county GIS, are separate from the GIS webpage hosted by Timmons and updated in 2016.
