Two taken to hospital following Monday crash

A two-vehicle sent two people to the hospital after a collision at the intersection of Mt. Olive Road and U.S. 11 near Toms Brook.

Sgt. F.L. “Les” Tyler, public information officer with the Virginia State Police said that a 2004 Toyota van, being operated by Abdelhamie Erraji, age 36, from Springfield was stopped at the intersection’s stop sign when he pulled out and struck a 2014 Honda passenger car.

“The passenger car was being operated by a Raul Flores, age 37, from Woodstock,” Tyler said. “The passenger in the car was a Claudia Coyotl, age 40, from Woodstock. All were wearing seat belts. After the impact, the Honda went off the road to the side of the roadway into a ditch and rolled onto its side. Both occupants of the Honda were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.”

Trooper V.O. Evans investigated the crash. Providing assistance at the scene were personnel from the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office and Shenandoah County Fire and Rescue. Based on Evans’s investigation, Erraji was charged with failing to yield the right of way at a stop sign.
