Water treatment plant construction begins soon

Financing for Woodstock’s water treatment plant project closed Tuesday and the town will hold a pre-construction meeting on March 23 with town staff, contractor representatives and the town’s engineer to kick-off construction.

Woodstock Town Manager Angela Clem said the town is hoping to begin construction in April with an anticipated construction time of just under one year.

Upgrades to the plant will include new solids storage, new filter bottoms, new filter media, new filter media cleaning mechanism, UV disinfection and more.

Clem added that the project has been planned for in the Capital Improvement Program and is funded through low-interest financing through Virginia Department of Health and backed by Virginia Resources Authority.

Town Council approved a $3,097,000 bid by MEB General Contractors to fund the upgrades at its March 7 meeting.
