Strasburg town manager to leave post in May

STRASBURG – Town Manager Ryan Spitzer steps down in May to take a similar job in North Carolina.

STRASBURG – Town Manager Ryan Spitzer is stepping down in May to take a similar job in North Carolina.

Spitzer has accepted a position as town manager of Pineville, North Carolina, a community of 9,000 people near Charlotte, according to information from Michelle Bixler, Strasburg’s economic development and marketing manager.

The Town Council voted recently to accept Spitzer’s resignation. His last day will be May 3.

Spitzer started working for Strasburg in July 2015, about six months since his predecessor, Judson Rex, stepped down as town manager to take a job in Dennison, Texas. Spitzer helped the town make progress on several projects such as the Community Development Block Grant improvements to downtown, Community Business Launch referred to as Rev-Up Strasburg, construction of the Department of Public Works building and the upgrades to the wastewater treatment plant and other beautification efforts.

Town Council met in closed session during its work session Monday to discuss Spitzer’s resignation. It voted in open session to accept his resignation but has not yet determined how it plans to move forward to find a replacement, Bixler said.
