Edinburg man arrested in attack on woman, children
The Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office has a suspect in custody today after three people were assaulted at the Edinburg Town Park just before 8 p.m. Thursday.
Samual Jacob Homer, 18, of Edinburg, has been charged with three felony counts of aggravated malicious wounding, according to a Sheriff’s Office release.
Homer is being held without bond at the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail. He will be appearing in Shenandoah County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and General District Court today.
Sheriff Timothy C. Carter said in a video news release that a call about a stabbing at Edinburg Town Park came in at 7:56 p.m. Thursday.
“Upon Sheriff’s Office staff arrival, they identified at least two victims, possibly a third and we have taken one person into custody,” Carter said.
A 27-year-old woman had multiple stab wounds to different parts of her body, Carter said. She was taken to Winchester Medical Center by AirCare helicopter transport.
The sheriff said a 5-year-old girl had lacerations to her head and neck area and that a 1-year-old girl had a possible laceration to her head. Both were taken to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock.
