Winchester man robbed on porch

WINCHESTER — Authorities are looking for a suspect who robbed a man at a city home early Saturday morning.

A man in his 70s was sitting on his front porch of a residence in the 400 block of North Loudoun Street when the suspect came up to him around 3 a.m., said Winchester police Sgt. Amanda Baker.

The suspect first asked if he and the man could talk. The suspect put down a bicycle in the man's front yard and asked if he could use the bathroom. The man said the bathroom wasn't working.

As the man started to go inside of his residence, the suspect pushed him from behind, got on top of the him, wrestled him to the ground and took his wallet from a rear pants pocket, Baker said.

The victim, who did not report any injuries, fled north on foot on North Loudoun Street, she said.

A woman told police she heard and saw the scuffle but didn't get a good look at the suspect, according to Baker. The victim could only describe the suspect as a black male wearing a black jacket, Baker said.
