Wednesday, May 14, 2008 *Edinburg man dies in Ox Road crashBy Sally VothDaily Staff Writer WOODSTOCK A 20-year-old Edinburg man was killed last night after police say he tried to overtake another car in a no-passing zone on South Ox Road. Cory Lee Herald died at the scene of the 11 p.m. wreck, Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. F.L. Tyler said. Two people in a 2001 Toyota Tacoma pickup were injured and taken to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital after being struck by Herald's 1996 Honda Civic, Tyler said. "[Herald] was traveling southbound on [Va.] 686 [Ox Road] when he came up behind a vehicle that was also southbound," he said. "It was a two-lane road, no passing lanes. It went to pass the vehicle that was in front of it and went into the northbound lanes where it subsequently struck a 2001 Toyota Tacoma pickup." The driver of the pickup was Richie Allen Palmer, 30, of Edinburg, Tyler said. Tyler couldn't confirm the name of the passenger. Speed was a factor, Tyler said, and Herald wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
