Job fair to be held Tuesday

Lord Fairfax Community College will host its second annual career and internship fair 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday in the Corron Community Development Center on the Middletown Campus. The event is open to both Lord Fairfax Community College students and the public at large in the schools service region, which is Frederick, Clarke, Warren, Fauquier, Rappahannock and Shenandoah counties.

“The fair is held every year to offer an opportunity for everyone to connect with job openings and internships in the area. It also gives employers a chance to be on campus and gain exposure for their open positions,” said Shelley Bowers, career and online adviser for Lord Fairfax Community College.

Free resume reviews will be offered during the fair.

Prior to last year’s inaugural event, career fairs had been offered for certain career paths of the LFCC community, such as nursing or Workforce Solutions. Bowers said some students, particularly those who are switching career paths, are looking for internship opportunities as a way to get a foot in the door.

Bowers is anticipating about 40 employers to be at the event. Those scheduled to be in attendance include Valley Health, Westminster Canterbury, Kraft Heinz, Prince William County Police Department, City National Bank, Kjellstrom and Lee Construction, Trex Co. Inc., Commonwealth Care Group NOVA and Yount, Hyde & Barbour PC.

Pre-registration is not required for those planning to attend the fair. There is still time for vendors who want to be at the fair to register. Vendors can contact Bowers at sbowers@lfcc.edu
