Teen struck by motor vehicle
A 14-year-old girl was injured Sunday night after she was struck by a car in Strasburg.
The girl was trying to cross U.S. Route 55 near Bobcat Lane, said Sgt. F.L. “Les” Tyler, public information officer for the Virginia State Police.
“There was a vehicle that had stopped on the eastbound side of route 55 and three occupants had exited that vehicle and were attempting to cross the road,” Tyler said. “A 14-year-old female crossed from the eastbound to the westbound side and was struck by a 2006 Toyota SUV who was traveling westbound. The 14-year-old was transported to Winchester Medical (Center) and flown to Inova Hospital in Fairfax.
The driver of the Toyota was a 68-year-old male from West Virginia. He was uninjured, Tyler said.
Trooper J.D. Rothwell investigated the crash and was assisted by members of the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office and fire and rescue units from Strasburg and Star Tannery. No charges have been filed.
