Arrest made after interstate chase

FRONT ROYAL — Warren County deputies arrested a Bridgewater man and turned him over to Fauquier County deputies Sunday after a chase on Interstate 66.

In a Tuesday news release, Sheriff Daniel T. McEathron said the deputies arrested Mark A. Hoover, 21, of Bridgewater after Fauquier County deputies had begun pursuing him on westbound I-66 in their jurisdiction and requested assistance around 11:15 p.m.

McEathron said Warren County Deputy Robert Mumaw waited at mile marker 10 and Sgt. Josh Seal waited at mile marker 6 for the fleeing vehicle. Mumaw entered the chase behind a Fauquier County deputy after the suspect’s vehicle passed mile marker 10, McEathron said.

Meanwhile, Seal laid down spike strips that damaged three tires on the fleeing vehicle when it reached mile marker 6, McEathron said. The vehicle came to a stop between mile marker 4 and mile marker 5, McEathron said.

A female passenger with Hoover was not charged, and released at the scene,
