The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and Dominion Electric Supply Company has collaborated to donate nearly $10,000 worth of electricity supplies to the electricity class at Blue Ridge Technical Center. The donation will allow students to work with some consumable supplies used in the workforce that otherwise would not have been provided by the tech center, including EMT pipe, an extensive variety of electrical cable, service cable, conduit, breakers and electrical devices.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced that U.S. pork producers are now required to report instances of the porcine epidemic diarrhea virus. The deadly virus has killed millions of piglets, raised pork prices nationwide and was first reported in Virginia last month.

The Virginia Wine Board has awarded 17 research grants to scientists, researchers and analysts for viticulture and enology projects. Grants were awarded to Mizuho Nita, Tony Wolf and Christopher Bergh of the Winchester Agricultural Research Extension Center, among others throughout the commonwealth.
