Town to enforce rules on parked trailers
Front Royal police warned this week that the town prohibits parking trailers on public streets in residential areas.
Police plan to give owners until Dec. 1 to correct any potential violations and to give owners time to arrange to legally park or store the trailers. After Dec. 1, the department plans to enforce the parking ordinance.
The police department received several complaints in recent weeks about trailers parked on the streets. The department responded to the complaints and found numerous trailers parked on town streets. Town code states that it’s unlawful to park trucks, tractor truckers, trailers or semi-trailers on public streets and alleys in town located in any residential zoning district.
The department acknowledged that many of the owners use the trailers for work and park the equipment out of convenience. However, the department indicates the situation has become a problem.
