Student charged with threatening school personnel

A 16-year-old Central High School student was charged Tuesday with communicating a threat against school personnel in writing.

Shenandoah County Sheriff Tim Carter said the student, whose name the department is not releasing, communicated a threat against school personnel.

However, he said it was a not a threat against any specific individual or group of individuals.

Capt. Wes Dellinger, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said the department became aware of the situation after one student saw the handwritten note and notified school officials, who called the police.

He said the parents of the suspect have been cooperative with the investigation.

A court date for the suspect has not yet been announced.
