Teen taken to hospital following crash
A Monday morning crash sent a teenager to the hospital after his vehicle overturned on Interstate 66, said Sgt. F.L. “Les” Tyler, public information officer for the Virginia State Police.
“The crash happened around 8:05 a.m. on Interstate 66 eastbound at the 10 mile marker,” he said. “(It was a) single-vehicle crash involving a 2000 Chevy pickup being operated by a 17-year-old male. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on route 66, ran off the road to the left and sideswiped a bridge.”
Tyler said that after striking the bridge, the unidentified juvenile then overcorrected, running off the road to the right through a guardrail, down an embankment and overturning.
The driver was transported to Warren Memorial Hospital.
Tyler said that Trooper C.P. Maddox investigated the incident and was assisted at the scene by the Virginia Department of Transportation and fire and rescue units from Warren County. No charges were placed as a result of the investigation.
