Chester Gap house fire displaces five

A house fire forced several residents from a Warren County home early Monday morning.

The Department of Fire and Rescue Services reported Monday afternoon that the emergency communications center received numerous calls reporting a fire with multiple explosions. Firefighters were dispatched to the 100 block of Panoramic View Lane near Chester Gap shortly after 1 a.m. Crews arrived on the scene to find a single-family house engulfed in fire with flames showing through the roof.

The five occupants escaped when they discovered the fire. Firefighters spent about 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control. Crews remained on the scene for several hours later to perform salvage and overhaul procedures. No injuries were reported.

The fire marshal’s office is investigating the incident as accidental. Officials consider the house a total loss with damage estimated at $220,000.
