Pedestrian killed in crash
Authorities have identified a 56-year-old pedestrian who died after a car struck him in the 800 block of John Marshall Highway in Front Royal on Wednesday.
Jeffery Green was crossing the street when a car driven by Jason Mallow, 36, of Front Royal, hit him, according to a news release from the Front Royal Police Department. Officers received the report at roughly 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Following the collision, medical responders transported Green to Warren Memorial Hospital and later to Winchester Medical Center. Green died as a result of his injuries, the release states.
The incident occurred when Mallow was traveling west on the road and Green stepped off the sidewalk and into the lane of traffic. The release states he entered the roadway about 150 feet from the pedestrian crosswalk.
Speed did not appear to be a factor in the incident, the release states.
