Four charged with distribution from Strasburg residence

Authorities charged four people with the distribution of methamphetamine and related offenses after executing a search warrant at a Strasburg residence.

Officers with the Strasburg Police Department and the Northwest Virginia Regional Drug Task Force charged Michael Mullins, 30, with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, and Amanda Mullins, 28, with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a stolen firearm and accessory to grand larceny.

They also charged both Joshua Showers, 30, and Merranda Ward, 20, with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of a stolen firearm and the possession of a firearm with a Schedule-I or Schedule-II narcotic.

Although officers believe the suspects were distributing methamphetamine, Capt.  Wayne Sager, of the Strasburg Police Department, said there’s no reason to believe they were manufacturing the illicit drug.

“We don’t have any knowledge of manufacturing at that residence, nor was there any evidence to indicate that,” he said.

He said the investigation is ongoing regarding the source of the methamphetamine.

The officers began investigating when they received a report of an overdose at a residence at 319 Borrum St. on Jan. 23. Sager said Ward overdosed on what is believed to be Klonopin, though lab analysis of her blood and urine has not yet been returned.

After seizing several narcotics-related items and a firearm that turned out to be stolen from a Warren County residence, authorities obtained warrants of arrest for the four, Sager said. Officers executed that search Monday.

Though both Michael Mullins and Amanda Mullins have been arrested, Sager said Ward and Showers are both at large. Sager said he suspects the two are in West Virginia, and investigators on the case are working with the Shenandoah County Commonwealth’s Attorney to obtain warrants of extradition.

As of Monday evening, Michael Mullins was being held without bail at the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail, while Amanda Mullins has been released on a $2,500 secured bond.
