Man arrested after Warren County crash
A Stephens City man was taken to the hospital following a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Freezeland Road and Bifrost Way in Warren County Friday afternoon.
Sgt. F.L. “Les” Tyler, public information officer for the Virginia State Police, said a 2003 Ford pickup driven by Jody K. Barthlow, 40, of Stephens City, was southbound on Va. 638 when he entered a right hand curve, and crossed the center line.
“He then overcorrected and came off the right side of the roadway, struck a side, went over an embankment and overturned,” Tyler said.
Barthlow was taken to Winchester Medical Center for treatment. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Barthlow was then arrested after the investigating officer, Trooper R.M. Weiss, and charged with a second offense of driving under the influence within five years, driving while revoked, having an uninsured vehicle and defective equipment.
Weiss was assisted at the scene by personnel from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and Warren County Fire and Rescue.
