North Carolina man arrested on sexual battery charges

WOODSTOCK — A North Carolina man was arrested Friday on several sex offense charges that he is accused of committing at the Hampton Inn & Suites.

Refugio Zermeno-Camarena, 23, of Butner, North Carolina, is charged with attempted forcible sodomy, abduction with the intent to defile, misdemeanor assault and two sexual battery charges.

Police Chief Eric Reiley said Zermeno-Camarana was charged as a result of an incident at the hotel where he was a contract employee. The victim told police that the incident occurred during working hours.

Zermeno-Camarena is in custody at the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 15. If convicted, Zermeno-Camareno faces up to life imprisonment.
