Police investigate double Edinburg car thefts
EDINBURG — The Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in solving a case involving two vehicle thefts on the same night within two miles of each other.
A tan Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was stolen from the 19000 block of Senedo Road, and the victim told police he had last seen the truck around 10 p.m. March 25. The truck was located and recovered in Warren County on John Marshall Highway two days later.
The other vehicle, a red 1997 Chevrolet Silverado regular cab pickup truck, was stolen from the 4000 block of of Stoney Creek Road, and the victim reported hearing the truck leave the driveway at 3:30 a.m. on March 26. The truck was located and recovered in Winchester on Wednesday.
Both trucks were found without any damage and nothing of value was missing, said Lt. Chris Baker of the Sheriff’s Office. Authorities are unsure if these crimes were committed by one person or several, and if they are connected in any other way.
Baker recommended that residents take normal precautions to secure their vehicles, such as making sure doors are locked and that keys are out of the car.
“Don’t give people the opportunity to take your vehicle,” Baker said.
Anyone with information on these thefts are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 540-459-6100.
