Fire damages mobile home in Toms Brook

TOMS BROOK — Fire and rescue squads from Woodstock, Strasburg, Toms Book and Shenandoah County Fire and Rescue responded to a fire at the Heishman Parks mobile home park just after 12:30 a.m Tuesday.

There were two adults and two children home at the time of the fire, according to the Shenandoah County Fire and Rescue Department. All four occupants were able to get out of the mobile home uninjured.

Bill Streett Jr., deputy chief of the county department, said preliminary reports show the fire was accidental, caused by a faulty electrical outlet in one of the mobile home’s bedrooms. Prior to exiting the home, the family shut the bedroom door where the fire started, containing it to just the one room. While that particular room was extensively damaged, the rest of the home had only minor smoke damage and is able to be rebuilt.
